Eulogy for Mimi Delivered by Amy Schaeffer
For those of you who don't know me my name is Amy Schaeffer, and I have had the privilege of having Catherine Schaeffer as a grandmother for the past 38 years.

To us she was known as our Mimi.

There is so much I would like to say and many stories I would like to tell.

The way Mimi would take all of us shopping,
Show us her pretty things,
her house,
her dolls,
her music boxes,
and who could forget all those stuffed animals that talked that she would play over and over to us and our children.

Her fiesty spirit always remained. You couldn't even carry her purse for her or help her around.

She will be dearly missed. She was a kind, patient and gentle spirit who made me personally feel extra special. Giving me that extra confidence in myself that I would have not normally had because I knew that my Mimi loved me so well.

I look around here and see so many people that are here, our family that all began with Mimi and Bocky. Mimi's graceful ways taught us what it was like to be in a family and how important family really is.

I have many memories of playing around the house as kids. She made holidays and occasions really special. There was the kid table and adult table and eventually all of us would be promoted to the adult table with good behaviour, getting to enjoy her china and crystal.

Not only did I get to experience this as a child, but my children did as well. Her great-grandchildren. I don't think I know a more patient woman when it comes to children. She loved her children, her children's children, and her children's children's children, and she did it with kindness, gentleness and patience.

She was a very strong and peaceful women in her faith and I believe she went to God in the same way.
Mimi was a person that you could talk to and she would sit and listen.
I will miss the times sitting around with her, shopping with her (even though she knew I really didn't like to shop as a child) and laughing with her which she did so well.

Having a Grandmother like Mimi means having someone who's warm and caring and someone who's fun to talk to and share with. She never seemed too busy to spend time with you.

Mimi's memory will continue to shine bright each day and through us her spirit will continue to inspire goodness in the world and through us her love will always live on.

As time passes I will stop and think about what a blessing she was and thank God for giving me a grandmother, a mother to my dad and uncles and a great-grandmother to my chldren.

Thank you God for giving my grandfather Bocky a wife and my great aunts and uncles a sister.

I will thank God for giving me a friend like Mimi who was not only caring and kind but lots of fun to be with.

This is a poem I found that reminded me of her.

My Grandmother

She was aged and timeless, with grace and finesse
A Grandmother and a friend
Her words were well spoken, her love but a token
Of many years well spent

Our loss on earth is Heavens gain
The beauty of her love in my heart will remain
As we fold her hands and lay her to rest
I realize that I have been truley blessed
With a Grandmother and a friend

Her absence from earth is not a final goodbye
Her presence, her spirit will always be nearby

Yet...goodbye for a short time, I will see her again
When they fold my hands and lay me to rest
We will meet in God's great kingdom
That sweet place called Heaven.
